Creativity and Knowledge

While these words may seem to differ, knowledge and creativity are more likely to exist together in an artwork rather than being separate. While having creativity is more essential for an artist, having knowledge is always a plus. Let’s say you wanted to draw a bird out in the wild, researching about the environment the bird may be in as well as the anatomy can significantly change the overall image. Another example is when you are assigned to do a certain style like cubism or impressionism, but you don’t feel as if you grasp the concepts that were discussed in class well enough to complete the assignment. In that case, you may find yourself at the library looking at books that have information; who am I kidding, looking on the internet would be faster. Even asking your instructors is getting knowledge, even if it may seem embarrassing since you were supposed to ask during class. Overall, while creativity sort of is the main focus of being an artist, having knowledge is also important in the industry.
